Associate Officer-Information Analyst
Contract

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of FIOC Team Leader, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Manage information; collect, coordinate, analyze, report and disseminate to be used as a decision-making and planning tool for the Field Integrated Operation Center (FIOC);
- Collect information from a wide range of sources, including UNMISS Civil and Political Affairs, Human Rights, Gender, Child Protection, Relief, Reintegration and Protection, Military, Police, Security, Humanitarian Agencies, International Non-Governmental Organization (INGOs) and Local Government Authorities;
- Produce forward looking reports within the context of the UNMISS Early Warning Strategy and Protection of Civilian Matrix that integrates and considers all the information gathered, resulting in clearly identifying the priorities where the state should focus its efforts;
- Build effective networks through mission components with state authorities, international partners, civil society and humanitarian community;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of political, socio-economic and security issues;
- Monitor and gather information on events or incidents that may affect the implementation of the safety of the Mission and its mandate;
- Support the Field Office Security Management Team, Security Management Meetings, Crisis management Team and respond to specific incident as required;
- Share all information with Join Analysis Center (JMAC) as guided by Chief JMAC;
- Additional information related task such as taking minutes of the meeting if required by the FIOC Team Leader;
- Undertake other related responsibilities as tasked by the Team Leader and Head of office.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Degree in Political science, International Relations, Human Rights Conflict Management, Security or any related field with 3 or more years experience in the field.
Required experience:
36 Months
Experience remark:
Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience.
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise:
Political affairs and political reporting
Area of expertise details:
- Previous experience in Joint Operation Centre or Joint Analysis Cell would be an advantage.
- Solid computer skills including full proficiency in various MS Office applicaitions (Excel, Word, Power-point, etc.)
- Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief; post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.
