Associate Monitoring Officer
Contract

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the UNMM Team Leader and his/her designated mandated representatives, the UN Volunteer Associate Monitoring Officer will:
- Participate in the planning of monitoring missions;
- Conduct inspections of UN relief consignments and monitor their crossing of the border, in accordance with standard operating procedures;
- Ensure completion and proper archiving of monitoring records;
- Provide inputs for the preparation of reports and other documentation;
- Contribute to Lessons Learned and After-Action Review processes;
- Contribute to the improvement/revision of operational guidance documents;
- Liaise with UN agencies' and implementing partners' relevant personnel regarding the monitoring operations;
- Maintain good working relationship with local border officials;
- Undertake other relevant tasks, as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
- Degree in Logistics, Humanitarian affairs, International Affairs, Social Affairs, Administration, or other related disciplines.
Required experience:
24 Months
Experience remark:
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management is an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness.
