Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Monitoring and Evaluation Service in the Business Transformation and Accountability Division (BTAD) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The Associate Management and Programme Analyst reports to the Chief, Monitoring and Evaluation Service, D-1. The focus of this position is to provide analytical support on incorporating the results of self-evaluation and other monitoring and evaluation activities into the planning processes of departments/offices/missions across the global Secretariat.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Associate Management and Programme Analyst will be responsible for the following duties: - Contributes to the work of the Monitoring & Evaluation Service of the Division of Business Transformation and Accountability (BTAD). - Works with clients to facilitate their learning from monitoring and evaluation activities; analyzes source documents and reports; identifies trends and challenges and recommends corrective actions; identifies and tracks follow-up actions. - Carries out advanced research on selected aspects of monitoring and evaluation outputs, including the collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis and presentation of results gathered from diverse sources. - Assists in performing consulting assignments, liaising with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change. - Participates in survey initiatives; assists with design of data collection tools; issues data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares preliminary conclusions. - Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. - Identifies, proposes and, upon approval, implements technological solutions that support monitoring and evaluation activities. - Supports the development of monitoring and evaluation methodologies - documents and writes related procedures. - Keeps abreast of related innovations, including those in information technology, that move the conduct of self-evaluation activities in the UN Secretariat forward and, in collaboration with OICT, determines the need for testing and evaluating new solutions. - Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of evaluation training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. - Participates in missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc. - Performs other duties as required.

    Education A first-level university degree in business administration, public administration, management, or a related field is required.

    Work Experience A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, information technology, administration or related area is required.

    No experience is required for candidates who have passed the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

    Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
