The USLS manages its members’ savings accounts and thus, operates bank transfers to members’ personal bank accounts and foreign exchange transactions. USLS is looking for a temporary assistance from an Associate Finance Officer to perform the back-office function of the investment activities and monitoring of the accounting related to members’ savings and loans related transactions and investments as well as financial reporting Under the overall authority of the Chief Financial Officer and supervision of the General Manager of USLS, the incumbent provides back-office, accounting and finance and reporting activities of the Unit, maintains & files all bank, investments & accounting related documents. The incumbent monitors the daily accounting and back-office processes and performs the related daily controls and end-of month, quarter tasks per pre-approved procedures and guidelines. **Main duties and tasks to be performed:** - Reconciliation of the USLS main bank accounts and end-of-day accounting controls on a daily basis with appropriate follow up actions and information to relevant USLS Finance Officers & General Manager as needed. - Monitoring of the accounting of members’ savings and loans related transactions and end-of-day accounting controls. Investigation and management/identification of incoming deposits - Back-office function of the investment activities on reactive manner with monitoring of related cut-off times. - Verification of bank interest earned/coupons, vendors expenses & bank fees per relevant contracts, etc.. - Confirmation and settlement of investments and foreign exchange trades - Investigation and coordination of banking/brokers/custodian inquiring and escalations, etc.. - Financial reporting using a Treasury Management System & specific tables & reports to be updated. - Update preparatory tables and reports related to financial statements preparation. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** • Advanced university degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Banking. • A first-level university degree in the same field of study in addition to professional certification in areas of Accounting, Financial Analysis or Banking would be considered. **Work experience** • Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounting in a financial environment or financial reporting. • Proven professional experience of minimum 3 years in Treasury/back/middle-office in a financial institution. • Analytical skills of figures are required. **Skills/Competencies** • Proven conceptual and analytical skills. • Excellent accounting skills and computer skills including ERP systems (Good level in Word & Excel is mandatory) • Ability to communicate effectively on technical issues in both languages. • Ability to identify priority activities and assignments and foresee risks. • Ability to solve routine issues in the field of accounting and finance. • Ability to get activities done per related procedures and referring to supervisor when need be. **Languages** • Excellent knowledge of English or French (written and spoken) and working knowledge of the other language. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- - IPSAS/IFRS- related qualification/training would be an asset. **ADDITIONAL INFORMATION** -------------------------- Monthly net salary : about 2 500 euros. ***Affiliation to the French Social Security scheme and remuneration paid to the contract holder under this contract is not exempt from any income taxes which may be levied by French or any other tax authorities.*** **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
