You have:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in International Relations, Political Science, Journalism, Communications, Business of Public Administration.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a field related to external relations, communications, media relations or reporting.
- Fluent in French and has working knowledge of English.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce reports and presentations.
- Ability to work under difficult and harsh conditions of developing countries.
Contract
This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.
Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Reporting Officer, based in SO Goma, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Keep abreast with all developments in the activity to prepare appropriate briefings and reports;
- Consolidate and analyse data on programme implementation and indicators in all sectors under AoR in order to facilitate the preparation of periodic reports in English or French, i.e. Sitreps, activity-specific reports as may be required;
- Liaise closely with all Units of the programme in the Area of Responsibility to gather and collate accurate data about persons of concern and assistance activities;
- Actively participate in fundraising at the regional and national levels with the preparation of Project proposals / funding submissions, as well as exploring available local funding opportunities;
- Draft Donor reports and respond to queries from Donors on programme implementation;
- Assist in keeping donor representatives briefed on developments and assist in the development of funding submissions, appeals and reports
- Contribute to the development of a fundraising strategy in line with the Sub-office’s priorities
- Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders in particular development and stabilisation actors
- Take part in provincial and local development planning processes on behalf of UNHCR
- Take part in Programme planning processes including internal planning with the Country Operations Plan (COP) process making use of available guiding documents, and external planning as required;
- Assist in implementing the establishment of sound monitoring processes, in reviewing final reports and on progress in order to advise on any corrective actions required or the need for additional resources to reach planned target levels.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Ability to live and work in the difficult and harsh conditions of developing countries is essential.
