You have:

  • First degree in Accounting or Finance and professional qualification such as ACCA, CIS or CIMA
  • Masters’ degree in Finance, Business Administration is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a management role in NGO environment
  • Working knowledge of accounting software packages; Sun Systems, Vision XL and Vision Executive, PowerBI, Kariba, Power Apps
  • Excellent computer literacy skills, especially in MS Excel
  • In-depth working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS
  • In-depth working knowledge of financial forecasting, cash management and Mobile Money management
  • Knowledge of how to prepare, review, and present financial statements and financial reports to senior leadership and boards

Key Responsibilities:

Treasury Management

  • Collaborate with the FP&A Lead to support the annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate cash flow forecasting in partnership with FP&A and project teams, ensuring alignment with PBAS commitments.
  • Monitor and review reconciliations performed by Shared Services to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with banking partners to support efficient treasury operations.
  • Foster a collaborative working relationship with Shared Services to streamline financial processes and resolve issues promptly.
  • Consolidate partner funding forecasts into comprehensive grant-level projections, enhancing visibility and precision in cash flow planning.
  • Review and approve financial requests on the Provision platform, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate with Shared Services Centre to ensure timely updates of exchange rates in Sun System.
  • Oversee Mobile Money Payments and Beneficiary Payment Platform, ensuring secure and efficient disbursement of funds.
  • Coordinate funding Reconciliation.
  • Ensure sources of Direct cash deposits are confirmed, managed and disbursed as per donor guidelines.
  • Monitor, manage and ensure timely reconciliation of funds invested with Global Treasury and any other location.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Compile and present financial reports for governance and leadership bodies, including the Board, Advisory Committees, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and other relevant committees.
  • Compile monthly Field Financial Reports ensuring compliance with the Finance Manual
  • Ensure timely submission and upload of consolidated financial reports and other key financial information to relevant platforms, including the FFR database, external audit portals, Riskonnect, PBAS, Pentana
  • Interpret overall financial score cards, track, follow through, and flag potential risk indicators to the FD.
  • Conduct thorough data validation prior to monthly financial closure, ensuring accuracy in A&T codes, account codes, and other financial data points.
  • Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts to maintain current and accurate financial records.
  • Coordinate closely with the Shared Service Centre (R2R and P2P) to ensure smooth processing of transactions and accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate annual conversion of financial statements to be IFRS compliant for statutory audits
  • Maintain comprehensive asset registers for the NO and conduct quarterly asset verification.

Financial Management

  • Oversee and manage staff advances, ensuring timely review and reconciliation.
  • Review, process, and authorize payroll payments in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Approve all supplier payments prior to release, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Validate financial transactions—including journal entries and payment vouchers—for alignment with donor coding structures, recommending necessary adjustments to maintain financial integrity and audit readiness.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany billing (via Blackline and General Ledger), ensuring timely processing and approval in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Support monthly and year-end financial closing processes, including reporting and reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely submission of invoices to Shared Services for processing.
  • Coordinate the payment factory process in collaboration with Field Offices (FO) and Shared Services to ensure efficient and accurate payment execution.
  • Oversee the balance sheet reconciliation (Advances, Supplier Accounts, Partner Advances, Payroll Balances etc) and ensure they are done monthly and accurately

    Compliance, Risk Management & Audit Coordination

  • Ensure full compliance with internal and external audit requirements, including timely provision of documentation and responses.

  • Oversee adherence to payroll, taxation, and all other statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead the coordination and follow-up on the implementation of audit findings, recommendations, and process improvement memos to strengthen financial controls.
  • Collaborate with the Shared Services Centre (P2P and R2R) to ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
  • Take ownership of updating and maintaining the Finance Risk Register, ensuring it reflects current risk exposures and mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct assessments and design internal controls to address identified gaps and risk areas, promoting a robust control environment.
  • Ensure that Field Office Asset Management processes are properly implemented and consistently followed.
  • Maintain compliance with World Vision Financial Policies and Procedures, GAAP/IFRS standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accounting records are well-organized, current, and maintained in both digital and
  • physical formats, in accordance with relevant legislation and audit standards.

People Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Establishes clear, measurable performance objectives for team members providing continuous feedback and coaching to drive accountability, growth, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Proactively identifies capacity gaps and recommends targeted training interventions to strengthen technical and operational capabilities fostering cross-functional understanding.

  • Oversees leave planning and utilization in accordance with World Vision’s leave management policies.

  • Oversee Finance new-hire orientation, onboarding, coaching and training for Finance and program staff on financial matters.
  • Share and replicate finance management best practices with the project teams in order to ensure improvement in financial management.
  • Assist the Finance and Support Services Director in capacity building initiatives as assigned.
