Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of the Congo in Brazzaville. The incumbent usually reports to the Senior Development Coordinator, Strategic Planning Team Leader and Resident Coordinator Office.

In December 2017, the Secretary General of the United Nations initiated an ambitious reform of the United Nations development system in order to ensure more coherent, responsible and effective support for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the world. by 2030. The ultimate goal of this reform is to offer more flexible and effective solutions for dignity, prosperity, and peace on a healthy planet. Among the provisions of this historic resolution approved by all Member States, the General Assembly decided to separate the functions of Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system from those of Resident Representative of the UNDP, as of January 1, 2019. Thus, the Resident Coordinator, as representative of the Secretary General and the highest representative of the United Nations development system in the country, will assume overall responsibility for the coordination of operational development activities and will play, in this context, the role United Nations Country Team Leader. It has a multidisciplinary team to implement its special, independent, impartial, autonomous and sustainable development-oriented coordination mandate, as desired by the Member States. In order to implement this new mandate within the framework of the 2030 agenda, the new generation of resident coordinator offices will include expertise in the following areas: coordination and strategic planning, economy, public policies, monitoring and evaluation of results. , strategic partnerships, and development communication. Description of tasks :

1. Provide technical support in the design and implementation of United Nations Country Team data and research strategies.

  • Help design and implement the United Nations Country Team's data and research strategy, in line with the Common Country Analysis and the United Nations Development Assistance Framework. (UNDAF).
  • Undertake empirical analyzes, data mining and visualization as appropriate to assist the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team, including results groups, reports and working papers on issues of sustainable development.
  • Gather and analyze information on recent developments in the use of new types of data sources and tools (eg big data) for sustainable development.
  • Provide technical and analytical support to the Resident Coordinator and the United Nations Country Team to help them prepare and lead the United Nations to work faster towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in the country, including prepare reports, analytical papers and briefing notes.
  • Contribute to the research and design of research and data tools and methods carried out by the United Nations Country Team at the country level.

  • Help define the UNDAF monitoring and evaluation framework and communicate results nationally, regionally and globally.
  • Contribute to independent UNDAF evaluations, its review, which is a key element of the UNDAF cycle, and other inter-agency monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities.
  • Play the role of country coordinator for monitoring and evaluation initiatives and networks implemented at national, regional and global levels.

4. Support knowledge management and capacity development in data and monitoring
