Org. Setting and Reporting This Associate Data Analyst role is positioned in ITC’s Data Management Team, which is located in ITC’s Information Technology and Systems section. ITC’s data management initiative, guided by the UN Data Strategy 2020-2030, aims to increase ITC's effectiveness and efficiency through a corporate and systematic approach to data management. ITC has the objective to efficiently collect, share and analyze corporate data sets in order to turn data into a strategic asset that expands ITC’s knowledge of its clients and intervention results. The overall area of work of Associate Data Analyst is to assist in the development and implementation of effective data management tools and practices. The focus of the position is to ensure systematic data collection by supporting project managers in their data collection processes and to fulfil ITC’s reporting requirements with the objective to generate data driven analyses and business intelligence for the organization.

Responsibilities .Under the direct supervision of Programme Officer, Data Management and the overall guidance of the Chief, Information Technology and Systems, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop process improvement mechanisms for data analytics tasks
  • Acquire and clean data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Assist in the development, implement and maintain data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize data efficiency and quality
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns, using basic machine learning techniques, statistical methods to identify relevant features and variables in structured sources of information and data
  • Identify data analysis potential through data aggregation and linkages from different systems
  • Track and report on progress regarding data collection
  • Develop requirements for reports and dashboards or other tools to effectively summarize findings and convey information to management
  • Test data collection and data analysis system for correct data display
  • Perform other duties as required

    Competencies Professionalism: Knowledge of web-based data collection tools. Good understanding of RBM and corporate reporting processes. Knowledge of UN-wide results reporting processes. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, manage, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. The ability to analyze, model and interpret data in support of decision-making and convey information succinctly to management. Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.     Education An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, information management, public administration, management or a related field such as economics or development. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience A minimum of two years of experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, project management, stakeholder management or related area is required.

    Experience in using data to advance decisions, strategies and execution is required.

    Experience with self-service analytics and data visualization applications (MS PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau or similar), or business intelligence tools (SAP Business Objects, etc.) is required.

    Experience with development, usage, and management of data collection tools is desirable.

    Experience in corporate planning and reporting is desirable

    Experience with database or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.

    Languages For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

    Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
