Org. Setting and Reporting

The section of Trade and Market Intelligence has developed Market Access Map (www.macmap.org), as part of a package of web-based market analysis tools, which provides information about customs tariffs, tariff-rate quotas, trade remedies, trade agreements and regulatory requirements applied by more than 200 countries and territories. Market Access Map helps MSMEs, trade support institutions, policymakers, trade analysts and researchers analyze conditions to access international markets. The principal goal of this job function is to work on the processing of customs tariffs at all stages from datasets formatting to quality verifications.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of an Associate Statistician and the general guidance of a Market Analyst the incumbent will be responsible of the following duties: • Support team members with data cleaning from primary or secondary sources and maintaining databases/data systems • Create data visualizations for internal or external use independently • Perform ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports • Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools • Identifies and analyzes errors and inconsistencies in data and provides timely resolutions • Translates data results into written reports, or presentations to convey information to management

Competencies

• Professionalism: Advanced knowledge in the analysis of market access and other trade related data. Ability to develop programs for quantitative market analysis on the basis of fourth-generation software such as SAS, or similar and database software. Knowledge of the Harmonized System product nomenclature. Capacity to implement the full range of activities involved in data collection, analysis and formatting. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, manage, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. The ability to analyze, model and interpret data in support of decision-making and convey information succinctly to management. Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings. Takes pride in the work for the organization and understands the impact that can be brought into the organization by allowing data-driven and evidence-based decisions. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, information management, public administration, management or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree

Work Experience

Experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, project management, stakeholder management or related area is desirable. Experience of software such as SAS or similar programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable. Experience in working with market access related data such as customs tariffs is desirable. Work experience of 2 years is required if candidates have a first level degree only.

Languages

Fluency in English is required.

Assessment

Assessment will be undertaken through a comparative analysis of the applications. The assessment may also include a competency-based interview and/or other appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
