Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG heads the Office of Investment Management (OIM), which manages a $60+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 85% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. This position is located in Risk and Compliance. The incumbent reports to the Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Associate Compliance Officer will be responsible for the following duties: •Works to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned projects; monitors and analyzes specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions. •Assists with on-going audits from the Board of Auditors and the Office of Internal Oversight Services, by facilitating and coordinating the activities of such examinations including the resolution of findings and observations. •Assists with compliance matters related to ICT and Business Continuity Policies. •Assists with internal compliance systems and procedures relating to conflicts of interest management. •Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies. •Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc. •Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. •Performs other duties as required.

Education A first-level university degree in business administration, law, information technologies or a related field.

Work Experience A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, information technology, compliance or related area is required. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in implementing compliance programs is desirable. Experience with investment tools such as Bloomberg or equivalent is desirable. Experience with PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel are desirable. Experience working with auditors is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice - This position is proposed to be funded by General Temporary Assistance funding in 2021 and is subject to approval by the General Assembly. If approved, this position is for an initial period of one year, with possibility of extension, which is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds.
