Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Field Audit Section in the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in New York. Audits/assignments are undertaken in the areas of finance, administration and operations. Incumbents at this level work individually or as a member of an audit team and report directly to the Chief of Section.

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) is the internal oversight body of the United Nations (UN) and assists the Secretary-General in fulfilling his oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and staff of the Organization through the provision of audit, investigation, inspection and evaluation services.

Responsibilities The Associate Auditor will be responsible for:

•Document, evaluate and test systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness with respect to (i) compliance with policies and procedures; (ii) accomplishment of management’s objectives, (iii) reliability and integrity of information, (iv) economic use of resources, and (v) safeguarding of assets •Prepare working papers for review by the auditor in charge •Take initiative in identifying appropriate audit tools, best practices, and identify/perform tasks aimed at ensuring that the audit assignments are conducted in accordance with OIOS’ standards •Create data visualizations for internal or external use to support report writing and presentations •Conduct data collection and analysis using data analysis tools •Undertake other duties as may be required

Education A first-level university degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field is required. Candidates for this position must have passed the United Nations Young Professional Programme Examination (YPP), United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the G to P Examination.

Work Experience A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in audit, finance, accounting, administration, statistics, computer science or related area is required. No experience is required for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professional Programme Examination (YPP), United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the G to P Examination.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.

Assessment As YPP, NCRE and G to P candidates have been through a rigorous assessment process, no formal competency based interviews or assessment tests will be conducted.

Special Notice This position is temporarily available until 31 May 2022. The appointment, or assignment, and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the post or funds, budgetary approval, or extension of the mandate.

If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.

While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post.
