Role Summary

We are looking for an Associate to integrate our core team of government advisors based out of Athens, Greece. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in supporting TBI’s engagements in the South & Eastern Europe region, across critical policy topics for governments.

This is an exciting opportunity requiring exceptional candidates who have some experience in public policy or advisory work for government, a can-do attitude, appetite to make an impact, versatility, and comfort operating in politically complex environments.

Support TBI’s role in delivering strategic direction, policy advice and delivery of projects to our government counterparts, spanning a broad range of topics and fluctuating over time, such as climate, healthcare, media, economics, government organization and governance processes, foreign policy, etc.

Conduct in-depth analyses and advise on key policy topics and international developments as needed to support the client’s policymaking and decision-making on priority projects and enhance the government’s ability to respond and adapt to global and regional trends.

With the help of other consultants and under senior leadership, the associate will kick-off and initiate new projects in existing or new countries, until permanent staffing has been identified and onboarded. This would assume a presence of up to 50% in-county, for a period of maximum 3 months. The associate may also be called to support existing engagements, either remote or with some travel in-country. When not deployed, the associate will work in a team with other consultants and subject matter experts in the Athens Hub to conduct research and analysis on a variety of topics, and document it in Word or PowerPoint reports.

The Associate will report to a Senior Manager or Country Director.

The Associate will need to meet the following requirements:

Academics and experience

• Candidates with 1 to 3 years' professional experience - particularly in public sector consulting or public policy for an international organization with a track record of effective project delivery - will be given additional consideration when shortlisting suitable applicants.
• A graduate degree in public policy, economics, international relations or political sciences; and / or under-graduate degrees and graduate degrees in other relevant fields and / or other requisite experience to deliver this role.

Work ethics and skills

• A proactive, self-motivated individual with a passion for achieving impact
• Commitment to delivering high quality work, and ready to put in the necessary effort to achieve this within imparted deadlines
• Ability to work independently, think strategically and produce deliverables, with attention to detail
• Good written communication and executive reporting skills including concise written PPT decks and reports are an advantage
• A proven ability to collaborate with others, including people from different backgrounds and cultures
• Fluency in English is required, with fluency in Greek or an Eastern European language preferred

Client and environmental awareness

• Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills; able to quickly establish TBI’s credibility with the client
• Ability to operate within sometimes sensitive political contexts and be attuned to potential areas of conflict or tension. Apply sound judgement in all external engagements on behalf of TBI
• An awareness of international relations trends, particularly in Eastern Europe
