Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is looking for five Online Volunteers with prolific writing skills and who have research background/expertise in areas of biodiversity conservation, drone remote sensing, or any related fields. The successful candidates will be employing their skill sets for enhancing the quality of multiple research manuscripts focused on conserving leatherback turtles near Kamiali Wildlife Management area using various Remote Sensing techniques. Online Volunteers, based on their level of contributions, would be acknowledged and/or invited to be a co-author in the accompanying publications. Specifically we ask the five Online Volunteers to support us with the following tasks: 1) Perform exhaustive literature survey of “applications of drones for leatherback turtle conservation” in a timely manner (approx. 5 hours/week) and 2) Assist with manuscript writing (approx. 3 hours/week)

    Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Papua New Guinea and was established to promote sustainable community development initiatives and thereby address several exigent issues – ranging from environmental conservation to women rights – that are hindering the progress of the country. A few of our ongoing projects focus on applications of various remote sensing technologies – such as drones and satellite imagery – for monitoring forest growth, tracking land use land change patterns, evaluating land feasibility for building educational resource centers and conserving sea turtle habitats and we are currently looking for five online volunteers who can help us with the above-mentioned tasks.

  • 6-10 hours per week / 12 weeks

    The ideal candidate should have published/co-authored atleast 1 research article in an international journal having an impact factor (please share your google scholar and/or ResearchGate profile and CV) or should be able to provide proof of his/her outstanding research writing skills. A minimum of a Masters degree or equivalent work experience (~3+ years) is preferred; exceptions will be made if the candidate is able to share a stellar publication record. Must have good communication skills.
