Under the overall guidance of the UN Women Representative and direct supervision by the Programme Specialist, Gender and Humanitarian Action the Assistant Programme Support Officer works with and provides support to the Humanitarian Programme Specialist in the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations. S/he will support and contribute to research, financial management support, and programme implementation including providing necessary operational, administrative, and programmatic support under the overall direction of the Programme Specialist. The Assistant Programme Support Officer will work in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects’ staff as required for supporting the addressing of logistical, administrative, and finance-related issues and exchange of information.

The programme entails supporting the Japanese funded COVID 19 Humanitarian response programme in Zimbabwe, to strengthen gender responsive prevention of and response to COVID 19 in rural marginalised areas through enhancing access to COVID 19 testing and vaccination services, provision of PPE and improving knowledge and attitudes on COVID 19. The assignment further compliments relevant government line ministries efforts in responding to COVID 19 pandemic in rural communities.

Under the direct supervision of Programme Specialist Gender and Humanitarian Action , the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - Assist in providing administrative support in the preparation of programme work plans, budgets, and proposals on programme implementation arrangements. - Support the Humanitarian unit on routine delivery and reporting of programme supported activities and finances; - Under the support of the Programme Specialist review programme data from programmes/ projects for the UN Women website; -Identify sources and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers. - Support all logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for organization of meetings, workshops, events, and missions in close collaboration with the Gender and Humanitarian Programme Specialist. - Support travel arrangements for Humanitarian activities; and prepare public information materials and briefing packets; -Draft briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations under the direction and of approval of the Programme specialist; -Identify/monitor risks that could interfere with programme delivery; and support the brainstorming activities on the design of mitigation measures to address those risks; -Support the process of monitoring the overall programme implementation of activities and finances using results-based management tools in close collaboration with the team of M&E specialist of UN Women -Contribute to the production of consolidated AWP and annual reports Support with administrative inputs into the synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices related to programme implementation, management, and finance; -Provide administrative support to the organization of training for the implementing partners on programme and operations related issues. -Efficient filing/ documentation of project documents, work plans, progress reports, budgets, and other implementation documents

Development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation and coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors. -Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e., studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded; -Experience in the gender mainstreaming and humanitarian action is an asset

Zimbabwe is located in Southern Africa and has three seasons, cool and dry from May-Aug, hot and dry from Sep-Nov, warm and wet from Dec-Apr. The capital Harare lies at an altitude of 1450m above sea level. The middle plateau is Malaria free, and prophylaxis is highly recommended in low lying and hot areas. The currency in use is the Zimbabwe dollar and the United States dollar in some places. Foreign exchange bureaus are available, and all basic food and accessories are available. There are public and private health facilities as well as many social amenities available in Harare.
