IIEP was established in 1963 as an integral part of UNESCO. It supports ministries of education around the world and other key actors to plan and manage education systems through its programmes of training, technical assistance, policy research and knowledge sharing. **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the supervision of IIEP’s Head of the Technical Cooperation Team and the Crisis-sensitive planning Cluster (CSP) lead, and in close collaboration with Programme Specialists working on the files, the Assistant Programme Specialist will provide support to: (1) the implementation of the research on teacher management in Uganda. (2) the implementation of the research on Ministries of Education (MoE) engagement in humanitarian responses in South Sudan, and; (3) the implementation of the French version of the SCP course on using data and information in crisis-sensitive planning. Specifically the incumbent of the post will undertake the following tasks: Long Description ---------------- **1. Support the implementation of research on teacher management in refugee settings in Uganda:** - Support the first phase of data collection and preliminary analysis. - Support the organization of a knowledge-sharing event/workshop on preliminary findings from the first round of data collection and analysis. **2. Support the implementation of the research on MoE engagement in humanitarian responses:** - Support the preparation phase for the research in South Sudan by drafting letters for the MoE and relevant stakeholders. - Support the recruitment of a national coordinator, as needed. - Support the first phase of data collection and preliminary analysis by reviewing and writing up the policy framework. - Support the drafting of the case-study. - Support the planning and implementation of the training workshop. **3. Support the implementation of the French version of the distance course on “Using data and information to plan for crises”:** - Support the organizational and logistical preparation of the course. - Support the finalization of the course materials. - Support the implementation and monitoring of the course. - Draft the course report. **4.
