Contract
This is a G-5 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education.

The WPRO Library unit ensures the availability of valid health information products, in printed, electronic and other forms to WHO staff, other UN agencies and international organizations, in appropriate language and format. It promotes and enhances regional and global library activities and services; and supports the health libraries in the Western Pacific Region, particularly in providing training in accessing health related information.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant (Library) and guidance of the Technical Lead for Information Products and Services, the incumbent will perform the following activities:
- Assist in the routine management of the multimedia library (MML) such as photo archiving, indexing and quality control, and providing approved photo requests to WHO staff and external users.
- Assist in the maintenance, stability and improvements of the MML system by doing functionality checks to ensure that it is working with limited or no issues. Monitor user analytics and recommend ways to improve productivity and usability. Coordinate with the service provider and WHO Information Technology Group as needed.
- Assist in the implementation and updating of the WPRO MML administrative and user guidelines in consultation if necessary, with the IPS Technical Lead, Communications officers and relevant focal points in technical units.
- Assist in the updating and implementation of a technical user guide for indexing and cataloguing of photos and related visual contents.
- Conduct training, provide guidance and answer inquiries on the effective and efficient use of the MML system to staff, external users, contributors and contractors such as photographers and videographers.
- Develop information and training materials for staff, external users and contributors on how to upload, store and share digital content in MML.
- Routine monitoring of the MML mailbox including assistance in the coordination and distribution of photography and other media by liaising with relevant technical units/divisions on the technical clearance of the media, liaising with the Information Products and Services' Publications unit (PUB) and technical units for tracking requests for downloading of high-resolution content by staff and external partners and stakeholders, and answering inquiries.
- Assist in the assessment, review, and evaluation of digital content for inclusion in the MML to meet WHO quality and brand standards.
- Assist in library activities by providing timely and effective support for services through reference inquiries, indexing and arrangement of materials, document delivery, library user education, organization of training and relevant meetings; and
- Performs other related duties as necessary instructed by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Equivalent to Bachelor's Degree with training in library science and/or information science. Desirable: Additional training in new technologies such as digital asset management.
Experience
Essential: Minimum of five year's experience in library work, preferably in a medical/health or science library. Desirable: Preferably with training on advising, guiding and providing feedback. Experience in managing and maintaining a digital asset management system or related photo library databases. Experience with photo selection, basic indexing and cataloguing and description of digital visual content. Experience in coordinating with IT and developers on the management of a photo library and/or digital asset management system.

REMUNERATION
WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at PHP 631,953 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
