Org. Setting and Reporting Under the direct supervision of the SDG Lab Chief of Section, the Assistant Information Analyst supports the Chief with overall team coordination and operations, providing direct assistance to the Chief in their leadership function.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Assistant Information Analyst will be responsible for the following duties:

Programmatic Tasks: - Contributes to the provision of political and policy support to the Chief of Section, including support in drafting talking points, reports, and correspondence on the activities of the SDG Lab; - Identifies and monitors major political developments impacting the SDGs at a local and global level and advise the SDG Lab Chief of Section and team on their impact on the overall work, messaging and mission of the SDG Lab; - Acts as programmatic and operational focal point for initiatives assigned within the workplan of the SDG Lab’s Geneva SDG Community; - Assists the Chief of Section during meetings with donors and potential collaborators and partners by providing background notes and profiles, taking minutes, monitoring follow-ups, setting up logistics and other tasks as needed; - Supports communications activities for internal and external partners by preparing presentations and other visual updates; - Assists in the monitoring of performance measurement tools.

Administrative Tasks: - Provides administrative support to the Chief of Section and team through calendar management; scheduling of online and in-person meetings; drafting of administrative documents (i.e., ToRs, travel forms, etc.); organization of team meetings (e.g., weekly, monthly, retreats); - Monitors the SDG Lab’s main email account, bringing relevant and urgent requests forward to the Chief of Section and/or Advisor and replying to standard requests for information and speaking engagements; - Serves as focal point for arranging access for visitors to the SDG Lab; booking of meeting spaces and conference venues and liaising with relevant units for practical arrangements (e.g., security, conference facilities, catering, etc.); - Serves as SDG Lab focal point within the Office of the Director General for administrative matters (e.g., leave reporting) and other duties as assigned by the Chief.

Education An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in management, international relations, development studies, political science or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience Applicants to positions at this level who have an advanced university degree in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience. For applicants who have a first level university degree, two additional years of qualifying work experience is required.

Experience in providing administrative support to senior officials, including calendar management and organization of meetings is desirable.

Experience in preparing presentations, promotional flyers and pamphlets is desirable.

Experience working in the United Nations Common System and/or a similar international organization is desirable.

Experience in drafting talking points, reports and official correspondence on behalf of senior officials is desirable.

Experience in using contacts database software and producing reports is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by a competency-based interview.
