This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Assistant Communications Liaison Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Assistant Admin Coordinator will:

  • Provide support to ensure day to day management of all logistics and administrative arrangements for Iumi Waka Co-Working Space.
  • Support organization of events including training, conferences, meetings, seminars, lectures and innovation challenge related activities as appropriate, and act as contact point for event speakers and participants; and
  • Provide support to maintain and update existing calendar for bookings and events at Iumi Waka Co-Working Space
  • Provide support to organize and host trainings, workshops, and events at the Iumi Waka Co-Working Space
  • Provide support to maintain visibility and communications for Iumi Waka Co-Working Space.
  • Assist in maintaining effective communication between Iumi Waka Youth Co Working Space and the National Key Implementing Partner: SIG Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labor, and Immigration.
  • Provide support to ensure that the youth co working space is open, accessible, and all-inclusive for young people during official opening hours.
  • Provide support to schedule and ensure regular maintenance, servicing and cleaning of the co-working space.
  • Provide support to supervise and oversee any work related to Iumi Waka Co-Working Space.
  • Support supervisor with drafting and documentation of reports.

  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Educational additional comments

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g. Commerce, International Business, Youth and Community Development or area related to: Social Entrepreneurship

Experience remark

  • At least 2 years of volunteer work experience at the national and/or international level in Youth led community work, communications or admin support or other relevant programmes; experience with community based youth associations is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Sound security awareness.

Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System
