You have:
- First-level university degree in international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience in both meeting/conference and event organization, preferably in an international environment.
- Experience in managing and coordinating public or diplomatic events.
- Experience in providing protocol services to high-ranking officials in an international setting.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English or French and good knowledge of the other language.
- Knowledge of other official UN languages.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and to effectively coordinate event-related activities associated with large-scale official events.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Knowledge of accepted norms, rules and customs of international diplomatic protocol and country-specific protocol.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the Internet.

The salary for this job should be between 106,500 USD and 144,653 USD.

1. Organizational Context
- Organizational Setting
The position is located in the Diplomatic Engagement and Assemblies Affairs Division, Sector of the Director General. The Division is responsible for all engagements with the diplomatic community in Geneva through various avenues such as events and meetings, as well as oversee the administrative, logistical and other aspects of key meetings such as the WIPO General Assemblies.
- Purpose Statement
The incumbent provides day-to-day support in the planning, coordination and organization of preparatory meetings and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders for the efficient and timely implementation of the WIPO General Assembly.
- Reporting Lines
The incumbent works under the supervision of and reports directly to the Director, Diplomatic Engagement and Assemblies Affairs Division.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:
a. assist the Director in liaising with representatives of WIPO stakeholders (Member States, NGOs and IGOs) and coordinate arrangements relating to the organization of the WIPO General Assembly.
b. assist the Director in following-up with WIPO stakeholders on the preparation of the Assemblies, identifying their needs and monitoring the level of service provided; schedule and secure facilities for side meetings, such as consultations, bilateral meetings and side events, and coordinate with relevant WIPO support sectors for the provision of required services.
c. maintain good relations and act as focal point for WIPO Group Coordinators.
d. draft talking points for the Chair and Secretary of the Assemblies.
e. prepare documentation relating to the Agendas of the Assemblies.
f. liaise with the different sectors throughout the Organization for matters concerning documentation and coordination matters.
g. attend meetings of the Project Group in charge of developing a new platform for meetings and draft status reports.
h. conduct pre- and post- event evaluations and report on outcomes, produce debriefing notes, highlighting areas that require improvement.
i. generate statistics and summaries of information for use in supporting effective business decisions.
j. perform other conference and/or event related duties and activities, as and when required.
3. Requirements
Education (Essential)
First-level university degree in international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
Experience (Essential)
At least three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an international environment, in both meeting/conference and event organization, with a demonstrated sense of customer service.
Experience in a multi-lateral setting.
Experience in managing and coordinating public or diplomatic events.
Experience in providing protocol services to high-ranking officials in an international setting.
Experience (Desirable)
Relevant professional experience participating and/or servicing a body of the UN common system, in particular in WIPO and/or at governing body level.
Language (Essential)
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English or French and good knowledge of the other language.
Language (Desirable)
Knowledge of other official UN languages.

Annual salary****:
Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. The figures quoted below are based on the April 2022 rate of 81.9%
