Job Description

The GEDI Officer’s primary responsibility is to provide effective administrative and communications support to the Regional GEDI Director for Asia, working across multiple time zones to facilitate GEDI efforts at the regional as well as country and global levels.

Major Responsibilities:

Administrative

• Coordination and support for GEDI-related on-line and off-line meetings, workshops, travel and other activities as requested by the R-GEDI-D (e.g. scheduling, logistics, Teams and Zoom set-up and support, recordings and note-taking, support for visa applications and travel arrangements, finding venues, and dealing with vendors.)

• Collecting, organizing and maintaining up-to-date internal and external data and other information for developing reports, action plans, analysis or communication products (e.g., trackers for GEDI-related training trackers, data on GE/GEDI Champions, W@W groups, their activities, staff composition, GEDI Action Plan monitoring reports, and Asia GEDI updates.)

Communications

• Draft communication products for approval by the R-GEDI-D (e.g. ads, announcements, reports, information briefs, RescueNet blog posts and other documents in Word or PowerPoint and, if needed, in Excel Sheet.)

• Facilitate information flows among GEDI Champions, W@W groups, GE/GEDI dedicated staff, Asia GEDI Working Group and other internal stakeholders as directed by the R-GEDI-D.

• Help create, organize and maintain up-to-date listservs, Outlook and Teams groups for effective GEDI-related communication (e.g., Asia GEDI listserv, GE/GEDI Champions, Regional W@W Network, etc.).

• Help identify and maintain communication with resource people and organizations, potential partners and other external stakeholders.

• Graphic design and video-editing support will be highly welcome.

Key Working Relationships:

Reporting to: Regional GEDI Director, Asia

Frequent communication with:

• Regional GEDI Working Group

• GEDI Champions, GEDI Think Tanks, other GEDI-focus teams

• Regional W@W Network and W@W groups in CPs

• GEDI unit

• Asia regional team

• External resource people, organizations and partners (less frequently)

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Project management, Gender studies, Development studies, Human rights, Education, Communications, International affairs, Social work, Political science, etc.) or equivalent experience

Work Experience:

• 1-2 years of full-time or volunteer experience of working in a NGO, business or other entity in an administrative and communications support capacity.

• Experience with local or national feminist organizations and international humanitarian or development organizations is a plus.

Required Skills and Qualities:

• Event/training planning, logistics, management

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

• Ability to find, organize and present different types of information

• Good time management and self-organization.

• Ability to work well in a team as well as independently

• Good graphic design and video-editing skills are a big plus.

• Good analytical skills and familiarity with intersectional, postcolonial feminist perspectives are a plus.
