Provide technical evaluation and supervise renovation of FAO office.
You have:
- University degree in Architecture, design, drafting or related fields.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in constructions as Architect; strong understanding of engineering technical specifications.
- Working knowledge (level C) of English and limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) for Consultants. Working knowledge of English for PSAs.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work.
Organizational Setting
FAO’s work in West Bank and Gaza Strip is guided by its Country Programming Framework for Palestine (CPF). The overall objective of the CPF is to contribute to the wellbeing of Palestinians – making the agrifood system more inclusive, sustainable and resilient. To this effect, the CPF adopts a nexus approach to bridge humanitarian and development interventions, recognizing the centrality of environmental sustainability and market led development and their dependence on the enabling environment put in place by the public sector policies and investment priorities. More specifically, the CPF sets out four priority areas for FAO partnership with the Palestinian Government for the period 2018-2022 in alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as follows:
Priority 1: Sustainably managed natural resources in the agrifood value chains. Priority 2: Increased competitiveness of the agrifood value chains. Priority 3: Enhanced protection and inclusion of highly vulnerable groups in agrifood value chains. Priority 4: Improved safety, quality, nutritional value and sustainability of food consumption.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office and the direct supervision of the Operations Officer, and in close collaboration with the Resident Engineer.
Technical Focus
FAO is planning to renovate the newly rented first floor at Jerusalem office to accommodate the expansion of personnel. FAO seeks the services of an Architect Specialist to define, fine-tune the design and complete the technical specifications, the tender documentation (including the BoQ and the detailed drawings), technical evaluation and supervision of the works for the renovation of the office. Architect Specialist will be tasked with the following:
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Provide technical evaluation for the technical offers received from the vendors for the renovation of the office and support to obtain technical clearance from relevant technical unit at FAO`s HQ. • Support FAO team to supervise the work of the selected vendor based on the cleared technical specifications and detailed drawings/ Scope of Work. • Perform any other technical tasks that will be entrusted to her as an Architect Specialist.

Minimum Requirements
• University degree in Architecture, design, drafting or closely related fields other relevant fields. • At least five years of relevant professional experience in constructions as Architect; strong understanding of engineering technical specifications. • Working knowledge (level C) of English and limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other FAO languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian) for Consultants. Working knowledge of English for PSAs.

Selection Criteria
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, and interpersonal and communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks. • Good Command of MS Office applications (Words, Excel, MS Project,etc.) and AutoCAD. • Ability to travel across the West Bank. • Familiarity with UN regulations, rules and procedures, and UN working experience in Palestine and the region would be an asset.
