This support is periodically needed for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Niamey, Niger, reporting to the Head of the Information Management Unit.
In general, the UNV shall support the Information management unit of OCHA Niger in its objectives to: - improve humanitarian response with translations of information products on the humanitarian situation - Improve the visibility and advocacy on the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) funding requirements by providing access to relevant information to a broader public - contribute to the delivery of the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP)

We are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to support us by translating information products including snapshots, infographics, situation reports, press releases and articles on the humanitarian situation in Niger from French to English and from French to Arabic (for some of the products).

More specifically, the Online Volunteers will be asked to provide high quality written translations of : - 2 monthly humanitarian snapshots (approximately 2 pages each) - 1 quarterly humanitarian dashboard (approximately 5 pages) - 1 monthly 3W map (1 page) - 2 monthly reports and articles (which are 1 to 3 pages long)

and to ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audience

The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.

The candidate for Arabic translation should be native or fluent in Arabic and French. The candidate for English translation should be native or fluent in English and French. Previous translation experience is considered an asset. A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in translating in the Arabic and English languages is desirable. Education: University degree in translation, communications or related field would be an asset. A one-paragraph translation will be requested as part of the selection process.
