This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Officer – Surveillance, Preparedness and Response, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Developing and supporting the implementation of national One Health AMR Action Plans.
  • Reinforces strategic country-level capacity to mitigate the spread of AMR in health facilities and communities in the situation of AMR Impact on COVID-19 clinical care
  • Work in coordination with the outbreak response team to ensure IPC priorities and activities are managed effectively within the overall COVID19 response, and in particular in coordination with the clinical/case management teams.

  • Assess IPC capacities and practices epidemic treatment centers, in hospitals and health care facilities in the areas affected by the COVID19 outbreak and at risk. Identify needs for further assessment based on this assessment.

  • Support the monitoring and evaluation systems of the national IPC preparedness plan to confront the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) programmes and emergencies operations on country level
  • Review the IPC measures implemented in the affected areas and advise on prevention of healthcare-associated infections in healthcare settings within the affected health settings

Educational additional comments

Specialization in Public Health, Epidemiology or IPC.

Experience remark

3 years experience in the field of Public Health, implementing antimicrobial stewardship programs, OR working in IPC activities

Experience in developing AMR Action Plans.

Experience in implementing IPC programs at national and hospital levels.

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
