Job Description

IRC Background:

Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of crime, oppression, or violent conflict. The Wichita IRC office opened in 2011 primarily as a refugee resettlement agency but has expanded its programming over the years to include youth-directed programs, financial literacy, and most recently, case management for victims and survivors of human trafficking through The Lighthouse Project.

Job Overview:

This position is located within the Anti-Human Trafficking Program, the Lighthouse Project. The Lighthouse Project provides comprehensive case management services to victims and survivors of both sex and labor trafficking and seeks to increase the capacity of the community to work with and identify trafficking survivors through direct and agency-related outreach, awareness raising events and training opportunities. The Community Training & Outreach Specialist will work in the community to encourage awareness raising and provide training on a number of human trafficking-related topics.

Major Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver training modules on a range of human trafficking-related topics that will fit a wide range of audiences. - Work with the grant funder to have all trainings approved in line with current best-practices. - Develop a comprehensive training plan to include identification of local community partners and groups that would benefit from training, a calendar of events and central contact and activity-tracking database, and plan to deliver training in a range of scenarios including in-person and online. - Develop and deliver effective training feedback mechanisms for a range of groups and training delivery methods. - Develop and deliver an online 6-month Lunch & Learn community awareness raising curriculum. - Build and maintain relationships with various local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, community partners, and community organizations. - Develop strategies to further assist in the identification and referral of victims of trafficking in Kansas. - Manage the development and implementation of an outreach strategy that extends beyond Wichita to rural surrounding areas and further into Kansas. - Manage and perform all Lighthouse Project outreach activities, to include direct and community-based outreach. - Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities and generally be an engaged team member. - Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols and adhere to the IRC Way.

- Other duties as assigned.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Anti-Trafficking Program Coordinator Indirect Reporting: Interns/Volunteers Other Internal and/or external contacts: The anti-trafficking training & outreach specialist will be responsible for developing relationships within the IRC Anti-trafficking network and external relations with social service agencies and government entities to expand the role of the Lighthouse Project.

Internal: IRC Anti-trafficking programs

External: Kansas anti-human trafficking coalitions, law enforcement, social service agencies, community education presentations, community outreach

Job Requirements:

- A 4-year degree with an emphasis in Social Work or an equivalent field of study is strongly preferred, in addition to the skills and knowledge typically acquired through 2-3 years of relevant work experience. - Knowledge and understanding of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), accompanying regulations, reauthorizations and related policies concerning anti-trafficking at the state and federal level is required. - Prior experience working with victims of human trafficking or other vulnerable populations required. - Experience in delivering trainings online, in-person, and to a wide range of audiences. - Experience in planning and implementing community outreach events. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

- Fluent in English, both written and verbal; Spanish-bilingual ability strongly preferred and will be prioritized - Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment. - Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Web based database experience, both with data extraction and design, preferred. - Valid driver’s license, access to vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits, etc).

Working Environment:

- Typically, a combination of standard office work environment and regular travel within the service delivery area. - Occasional travel outside of the Wichita metropolitan area and to additional communities in Kansas may be required. Out-of-state work may be occasionally required. - Occasional evening and weekend work required.
