You have:
- Experience in animation design, motion graphics, or video editing.
- Proficiency in animation and design tools such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to incorporate feedback.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- No formal degree required; however, a background in animation, digital media, graphic design, or related fields is considered an asset.

UNDP Malawi is increasingly integrating multimedia communication—short explainer animations, motion graphic videos, social media animations, programme summaries, and digital learning content—into its public information strategy. Drawing on practices used in UNDP’s global animation assignments, the office seeks Online Volunteers to support production and enhancement of animated content. These animations will support programme teams in visualising development work on governance, resilience, innovation, youth empowerment, climate action, and other thematic areas.

Under the supervision of the Communications Team and in collaboration with programme focal points, the Online Volunteer(s) will:
A. Animation & Motion Graphics Production
• Create short animated videos (1–4 minutes) for social media, public outreach, presentations, and knowledge products. • Develop motion graphics, transitions, icon animations, and visual storytelling elements aligned with UNDP branding. • Animate illustrations, infographics, and maps to support programme teams. • Integrate branding elements such as logos, typography, colour palettes, and campaign visuals.
B. Enhancement of Existing Videos
• Review existing video content and recommend improvements in visual flow, clarity, and animation quality. • Refine motion graphics, layout, transitions, and pacing. • Improve narrative cohesion and visual consistency.
C. Voiceover, Audio & Narrative Integration
• Add subtitles, sound effects, background music, and simple voiceover syncing (audio will be provided where needed). • Assist in integrating scripts, programme messages, and storytelling elements to create clear, engaging animated videos. • Ensure accessibility features such as captions and readable graphic elements.
D. Collaboration with Programme Teams
• Work with programme teams to translate complex development concepts into simple, visually compelling animations. • Support teams in conceptualizing scripts, storyboards, and visual sequences. • Offer creative input, recommend animation styles, and propose enhancements that support communication objectives.
E. Outputs & File Management
• Deliver final animations in MP4 or other required formats suitable for social media and presentations. • Submit editable project/source files (e.g., After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere). • Incorporate feedback to produce revised videos that meet UNDP standards. 4. Deliverables By the end of the assignment, the Online Volunteer(s) will deliver: • 3–6 fully animated short videos (1–4 minutes each). • Animated infographics or motion graphics packages for select programmes. • One final compilation reel or summary video (optional). • Editable project files and documentation for future updates. • A brief handover note for continuity.
A. Professional Experience
• Experience in animation design, motion graphics, or video editing. • Proven ability to refine or produce high-quality animations. • Previous experience creating branded or educational content is an asset.
B. Technical Skills
• Proficiency in animation and design tools such as: o Adobe After Effects o Premiere Pro o Illustrator / Photoshop o Media Encoder o Or equivalent animation/graphics tools • Understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, transitions, and motion design principles.
C. Communication Skills
• Ability to understand briefs and translate ideas into visuals. • Strong attention to detail and ability to incorporate feedback. • Good written and verbal communication skills.
D. Education
• No formal degree required; however, a background in animation, digital media, graphic design, or related fields is considered an asset.
