Overview

Engage in research and analysis on open source projects

You have:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with open source research and investigative methodologies is required.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural international work environment is desirable.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
  • Fluency in French is advantageous but not mandatory.

Work Location

Geneva. The internship is designed to be in-person and full-time but applications from those unable to travel and stay in Geneva are also welcomed.

Expected duration

The internship is for a minimum 3 and maximum of 6 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with the IIMM’s Open Source Project Team. The duties of interns may include, but are not limited to, conducting open source research and preparing analyses on various issues relating to the situation in Myanmar; contributing to the preparation of analytical reports and other work products; assisting in the compilation and review of information, documentation and evidence. Interns will report to an Information Analyst of the Open Source Project Team within CASS.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Applicants must be familiar with open source research and investigative methodologies. Experience working in a multi-cultural international work environment, conducting research and/or handling sensitive or confidential information is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
