Title of the position: Akelius Teacher Assistant/Project Officer

Location: BiH, Bihać (TRC Borići)

Deadline of applications: April 4, 2024

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Akelius Teacher Assistant:

  • Preparation of class/project activities
  • Preparation of equipment (tablets) for class
  • Responsible for organizing the attendees/children for the class

Teaching Support

  • Documenting the progress of class/project activities (keeping track of the children participated in course, maintaining attendance lists, providing information on status of Language course)
  • Maintain daily records, track children’s progress and intervene to help children progress as necessary
  • Assistance in conducting English Language course classes for migrant children 5 to 18 accommodated in Borici TRC
  • Foster a positive and collaborative learning environment where the unique needs of all students are met
  • Preparing relevant inputs for project reports

Maintenance of equipment

  • Taking care of WV equipment
  • Regular check-ups of equipment
  • In case of equipment failure responsible for immediate reporting to the coordinator

Team Work and Collaboration

  • Establishing collaborative relationships with other stakeholders, operating in TRC Borici
  • Working collaboratively with WV BiH Emergency Response staff and participate in weekly staff meetings

Project Officer Responsibilities

MHPPS Workshop support

  • Develop and implement tailored social, recreational, educational, and occupational activities for girls and women.
  • Maintain attendance records and monitor participation in workshop sessions for (PoM).
  • Record project activities, communications, and agreements.
  • Organize and store all project-related documentation efficiently.
  • Contribute to project reporting
  • Prepare necessary inputs for project reports and compile impactful stories for reporting purposes.

Preparation of project activities

  • Preparation the list of needed equipment or goods for the implementation of workshop sessions
  • In collaboration with Project Coordinator prepare weekly plan of project activities/workshop sessions
  • Participate in Coordination meetings/working groups as required.
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with other stakeholders, operating in TRC Borici
  • Working collaboratively with WV BiH Emergency Response staff and participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Daily and weekly working collaboratively and responsively with Project Coordinator and Project Manager

Other Responsibilities

  • Be aware of the Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs (HEA) standards and operational imperatives as well as the National Disaster Preparedness Plan (NDPP).
  • All other organizational, emergency response and project related matters, as directed by Emergency Response Project Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum high school education
  • Education in Social Studies and related areas would be considered as an asset.
  • Experience in direct work with children is essential- at least 1 year of experience working with children of all ages, and least two years working experience in migration response sector.
  • Proven understanding of humanitarian setup and Safeguarding Standards in Humanitarian Action.
  • Proven excellent networking and relationship management skills with the actors of migrant response sector (Government, NGO, civil society)
  • Proven ability work in the dynamic and uncertain environment (emergency response environment).
  • Willingness to travel daily and willingness to help out with all educational and occupational activities.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications, email and internet programs.
  • Flexible and able to make sound quick decisions

  • Attuned to Safeguarding issues especially in emergencies
  • Willingness to work in difficult environment
  • Fluent English written and spoken preferred
  • Minimum understanding of migrant response and human trafficking.
  • Experience in delivering a diverse range of interventions encompassing arts, sports, education, and occupational activities
  • Experience in enhancing well-being of children and younger population.
  • Experience in networking with external stakeholders
  • Strong sense for humanitarian situation and cultural sensitivity
