You have:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a field related to air transportation desired.
  • Fluent command of spoken and written English.
  • Driving License, succeeded in ICRC driving test.
  • Some completed college coursework or an associate degree an asset.
  • Additional vocational training in logistics or aviation an asset.
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of technical aviation terminology.
  • Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment.
  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work.

What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

Air Operations (AirOps) Officer 1 is responsible for handling bookings, liaising with other departments for flight movements, and reporting.

Reports to (role)

  • Logistician

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

  • Handles flights requests, flight notifications and security clearances.
  • Handles passenger, cargo, and mail services to/from the airport. Distributes daily/weekly/month\y flight plans to the local authorities.
  • Liaises with Logistics, Welcome and other ICRC departments about the movements of ICRC aircraft and pick-up and drop-off times for passengers, cargo, and mail.
  • Keeps AirOps statistics, reporting and documentation up to date.
  • Assists the AirOps Manager with the multiple tasks required to monitor and consolidate the flights, contributing to it requires systematic interaction with other Air Operations Officers.
  • Control and filing of post flight documents.
  • Assist Logistics department for any logistics related job requested by Logistics Site manager.
  • Maintains and develops contacts at with Authorities, Airport representatives, NGO, and ICRC offices.
  • Keeps the AirOps and Logistics departments informed of any delays encountered.
  • Ensures that risks are mitigated by performing the controls assigned to his/her role as described in the Logistics Risk and Control Matrix

Certifications / Education required

Professional Experience required

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a field related to air transportation desired.
  • Experience with a humanitarian agency an asset.
  • Knowledge of technical aviation terminology.
