You have:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a field related to air transportation desired.
  • Fluent command of spoken and written English.
  • High School Certificate.
  • Some completed college coursework or an associate degree an asset.
  • Driving License, succeeded in ICRC driving test.
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of technical aviation terminology.
  • Additional vocational training in logistics or aviation an asset.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

Air Operations (AirOps) Officer 1 is responsible for processing passenger/cargo bookings via ICRC’s air operation database (AOMS4), mange passenger manifest and notification for local authorities, supervise aircraft loading/unloading and refueling

Reports to (role)

  • AirOps Officer 3

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

  • In coordination with the AirOps Officer 3 / AirOps Manager, handles flight requests, flight notification and security clearances.
  • Ensure ICRC SOP [Standard Operation Procedures] is adhered to.
  • In charge of collecting the invoices from the Suppliers
  • Maintains and develops contacts with ICRC AirOps Officers based in Sub-delegations, Sudanese Authorities, Airport representatives, UNHAS and INGOs as per instructions and authorization from Line Manger.
  • Assists the AirOps Officer 3 / AirOps Manager with the multiple tasks required to monitor and consolidate the flights, contributing to the efficiency of the flight organization. It requires systematic interaction with other Air Operations Officers (Kassala and Damazine).
  • Maintains good professionals contacts with the local Authorities and follows-up of official procedures relevant to the area of operations.
  • Control and filing of post flight documents.
  • Keeps the AirOps Officer 3, AirOps Manager and Logistics Country Manager informed of any delays encountered.
  • Keeps AirOps statistics, reporting and documentation up to date.

Certifications / Education required

  • High School Certificate

Professional Experience required

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a field related to air transportation is desired.
  • Experience with a humanitarian agency is an asset.
