Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO)-Laayoune. The Air Operations Assistant at this level reports to the Air Operations Officer.

Responsibilities - Conduct periodical surveys of MINURSO-operated airfields to ensure required standards for safe operation are met. - Ensure safe and professional conduct of ground activities at airfields and helipads. - Assist in the development, revision and implementation of Airfield Management Unitrelated Standard Operating Procedures in compliance with the current UN DOS Aviation Manual, Host Nation AIP, Company Operations Manual and CAA regulations of air carrier registry - Conduct regular visits to team sites to ensure that airfield equipment is in operational condition and replace it when necessary. - Track airfield equipment stock for its timely replenishment. - Maintain and regularly update the "Airfield Equipment Status" database and "Airfields and HLS status" directory - Conduct ad-hoc site surveys of temporary helicopter landing sites and inspection of unpaved runways and helicopter landing sites after maintenance providing adequate information to the Chief Aviation Officer for certification of surveyed sites for operations. - Continually cooperate with Engineering Section in relation to maintenance and rehabilitation of un-surfaced airfields - During team sites visit, monitor aircraft fuelling operations to ensure safety procedures are followed - Monitor serviceability of firefighting equipment and facilitate its repair or replacement by the Security Section if necessary. - Report any breaches of instructions, regulations and safety procedures to the supervisor and ensure the immediate cessation of any such activities. Liaise with Mission offices and Air Carriers' Site Managers in relation to aviation activities. - Conduct briefing to new Air Operations personnel and aircrews. - Conduct specific briefings at the team sites to Military staff assigned to perform the duty of Air Terminal Officers. - Ensure that landing sites were equipped with serviceable equipment, including those necessary for the conduct of day/night medical evacuation (e.g. night landing lights, illuminated windsocks, meteorological weather stations). - Ensure that military personnel responsible for the facilities and related equipment at remotely located team sites perform functional checks. - Conduct regular assessments of aircraft rescue and firefighting and airport medical facilities, airport ramp operations, apron and runway/landing areas, helipads and helicopter landing areas and fuel services. - Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. - Documents requirements and background information used for data analysis. - Perform other duties as required.

Education High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.

Job - Specific Qualification A valid driver's license is required.

Work Experience At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in Aviation, including at least 4 years in air terminal activities is required.

A Valid certificate in Aviation Risk Management (ARM) or similar is required.

Experience in the use and implementation of Aviation Information Management Suite (AIMS) is required.

Experience in international operations in a post-conflict environment is desirable.

Experience in the development and implementation of Standards Operating Procedures in Aviation is desirable.

Training in Emergency Planning and Response Management is desirable.

Training in Aviation Safety Management System is desirable.

One year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of French and Arabic is an Advantage.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
