1. Organizational Context

  1. Organizational Setting

The post of AIMS Reporting Lead is located in the Enterprise Business Capabilities Section, Enterprise Solutions Division (ESD), Department of Program Planning and Finance. The Enterprise Solutions Division is responsible for the evolution and maintenance of WIPO's portfolio of ERP Administrative and Management applications collectively known as the Administrative Integrated Management System (AIMS). AIMS portfolio of products includes a combination of commercial off the shelf (COTS) and custom developed applications based on Oracle Hyperion, Taleo, PeopleSoft FSCM & HCM, Acuity Stream (for risk management) and others.

  1. Purpose Statement

The AIMS Reporting Lead will work closely with business focal points, enterprise analytics teams and ERP support team members to support and implement high-quality data, reporting and analytics solutions. S/He ensures data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes and procedures for analytics employees to follow. They will use advanced data modeling, predictive modeling and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support business outcomes.

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Enterprise Business Capabilities Section Head.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

a. Manage and optimize processes for data ingestion, validation, mining and engineering as well as modeling and visualization in the human capital management, finance, program performance & budgeting and procurement domains;

b. Oversee the design and delivery of reports and dashboards that analyze key business operations and performance metrics;

c. Responsible for the AIMS reporting support function and ensure that new/enhancement requests and bugs/issues are tracked, prioritized and addressed following the established DevOps and change management processes;

d. Recruit, train, develop and supervise business analysts, data visualization specialists and other technical employees as needed to deliver the business priorities;

e. Liaise with the business stakeholders and delivery teams to design and deliver business reports and dashboards, using various data visualization tools, including Tableau/Power BI;

f. Provide a robust Data Service Layer including a data catalog and pipelines enabling self-service capabilities to support business users perform ad hoc reporting and data analysis;

g. Ensure accuracy of data and delivered reports/dashboards by implementing the appropriate data quality control processes & tools;

h. Contribute to and implement data governance tools and processes defined by WIPO's Chief Data Officer (CDO), Chief Protection Officer (CPO), Data Scientist or others to ensure AIMS solutions are fully aligned with the organizational standards;

i. Act as the Subject Matter Expert on AIMS data and fulfil requests for data from other teams in WIPO in an optimized and secure manner;

j. Manage the AWS Analytics technical platform and other tools used for AIMS reporting & analytics capability;

k. Provide training to users on the data models and tools as needed;

l. Report on the results and progress of analytics initiatives to management and relevant stakeholders;

m. Perform other duties as required.

3. Requirements

Education (Essential)

Advanced university degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or a related field. A first-level university degree plus two years of relevant experience in addition to the experience requested below may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Education (Desirable)

Certifications related to data science, AWS Analytics, Data Visualiztion tools etc.

Understanding of Agile and/or PRINCE2.

Experience (Essential)

At least seven years of relevant professional experience in a position implementing and overseeing Business Intelligence (BI), data warehouse and enterprise reporting solutions.

Three years of experience leading an analytics or reporting team preferably in an ERP context.

Strong business-domain knowledge in two or more of the following: human capital management, finance, procurement, program planning & budgeting, travel management and risk management.

Working knowledge of database query writing and data population, e.g. complex SQL query design and ETL tools (e.g. Talend).

Deep understanding of data flows and data governance.

Experience (Desirable)

Experience with big data tools: Teradata, Aster, Hadoop, etc.

Experience with testing tools such as Adobe Test & Target.

Experience with data visualization tools: Tableau, Power BI, etc.

Experience with AWS Analytics or other analytics tools.

C, C , JAVA, or other programming languages.

Experience in working in one or more data science languages such as R, Python, SPARK, and MATLAB.

Project management experience.

Language (Essential)

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Language (Desirable)

Knowledge of French.

5. Information

Mobility: WIPO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Director General and may be assigned to any activities, office or duty station of the Organization. Accordingly, the selected candidate may be required to move from time to time to new functions and/or to another duty station.

Annual salary****:

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the May 2022 rate of 72.2%

* Initial fixed-term appointment of two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and other applicable conditions. The selected candidate will be subject to an overall term of five years with no possibility of renewal beyond that term. This is not applicable to WIPO staff members on fixed-term, continuing or permanent appointments, who were recruited following a competition under Staff Regulation 4.10 (“Appointment Boards”).
