This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Programe Manger or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Aid Coordination Officer will have the following Tasks:

  • Work under the aid coordination division to setting up more effective aid coordination for Jordan
  • Implement data management plan of the Aid Flows Information System (AFIS)
  • Contribute to the analytical papers preparation and compile data on Jordan's foreign aid needs and requirements.
  • Contribute to drafting of policy and white papers that harmonize Jordan's aid requirements with its development needs.
  • ‎Contribute to ‎ coordinating and prepare for donor coordination meetings and meetings of the government- donor sectoral working groups to explore developmental needs and priorities.
  • Draft talking paints, speeches, and strategies to reaching out to various donors (both states and donors).
  • Assist in developing concept papers for new projects ideas.
  • Support the unit to produce detailed and up-to-date cooperation and summary reports on Jordan's main bilateral and multilateral donors.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Educational additional comments

Bachelor degree in Economics, Development Studies, IT, Finance, or Public Administration,

Experience remark

  • At least 5 years of professional work experience with strong research and analytical skills. Data base development and monitoring. experience with UN is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
