Support Agriculture Engineer in implementing sustainable farming practices and oversee fieldwork.

You have:

  • 2+ years in agricultural projects (e.g., irrigation, organic farming, agroecology). Experience with CFW programs preferred.
  • Experience in supervising and dealing with 30+ workers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or related field.
  • Good in written and spoken English required.
  • Experience in agriculture and plantation, irrigation network, forestry trees large scale projects, managing plantation sites.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office software use especially word, excel and outlook as well as agriculture soft tools.
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • A good team player but also willing to work on own initiative.

JOB PURPOSE

The Junior Agriculture Engineer will support Agriculture Engineer in implementing sustainable farming practices, irrigation systems, and soil conservation projects. Responsibilities include overseeing CFWs plantation activities, ensuring compliance with agricultural standards, and managing Cash for Workers to achieve project goals with the guidance of Agriculture engineer and Project Manager. The role requires hands-on fieldwork and adherence to environmental and safety regulations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and monitor the CFWs to carry out plantation and agriculture interventions in accordance with the work plans, regulations, CFWs' SOPs, design, specifications, and the highest standards of work.

  • Compliance & Safety
  • Data Collection & Reporting
  • Assessment of the quality of the used materials according to defined standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the project coordinator or the project manager.

KNOWLEDGE \ QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • 2+ years in agricultural projects (e.g., irrigation, organic farming, agroecology). Experience with CFW (Cash for Work) programs preferred.
  • Experience in supervising and dealing with 30+ workers.
  • Experience in CFWs (Cash for Work) project is a must, experience in GIZ CFWs projects is plus

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or related field.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Experience in agriculture and plantation, irrigation network, forestry trees large scale projects, managing plantation sites
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office software use epically word, excel and outlook as well as agriculture soft tools.
  • Excellent reporting skills.

  • Location – the individual will need to be based in the field throughout the life of the project

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • 95% field work
  • 5% office based
