Duties and Responsibilities The consultant would report to the Food and Environment Policies Section in the Climate Change and Natural Resources Sustainability cluster and will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Prepare a technical brief (following outline in annex) on technologies used for the dual purpose of both mitigating or adapting to climate change (reduction of emissions from agriculture, climate smart technologies for improved management of water, soils and livestock, etc) for building resilience of agriculture sector. 2. Prepare presentations and present them during workshop to be held from 7-8 Dec 2021.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environment, agriculture and food security, climate change, natural resources management, economics, sustainable development or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in policy-oriented work examining a broad range of climate change and sustainable development issues with significant expertise in agriculture, climate change and food security is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Arabic is also a working language of ESCWA. For this post, fluency in oral and written Arabic and English is required.
