Overview

Conduct comprehensive market and value chain analysis for agricultural products.

You have:

  • An advanced degree (Master or equivalent) in Agricultural Economics, Sustainable Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5–7 years of experience in conducting Value Chain Analyses (VCA) and market assessments, preferably in the conservation or forestry sectors.
  • Proven experience working on agroforestry and sloping agricultural land technology for smallholder farmers (experience with cardamom or tea or grapefruit is a strong asset).
  • Deep understanding of the socioeconomic and context in Myanmar.
  • Ability to use selection of matrices and economic modeling to compare different products and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Fluency in English and Myanmar langue is required. Knowledge of local languages in the project area is highly desirable.
  • Excellent report-writing skills and the ability to present complex market data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in the field and physically navigate remote jungle terrain, including steep areas and off-road conditions, as required.

WWF-Myanmar is now inviting applications for Agri-Products Value Chain Consultancy, a home-based position that includes a visit to project sites.

The project aims to support the recovery of tiger populations by strengthening the capacity of local partners and promoting local-decision making and community-led forest management. A key expected livelihood outcome of the project is improving food and financial security through the adoption of nutritious, climate-resilient agricultural practices and the sustainable collection of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). The consultant is expected to carry out the following activities with full commitment to, and compliance with WWF’s social safeguard policies.

Objectives of consultancy

The project seeks to enhance the food and financial sustainability of local communities by piloting climate-resilient livelihood options. The specific objective of this consultancy is to carry out a comprehensive market and value chain analysis of red cardamom, grapefruit, and tea leaves. In addition, the consultancy will explore and assess other agricultural products with potential livelihood benefits for the community. Based on the findings of this analysis, the consultant will provide evidence-based recommendations on the most suitable product(s) for future project implementation.

Scope of work

The consultant will undertake a comprehensive market and value chain analysis for red cardamom, grapefruit, and tea leaves in the project target areas. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

Comparative Assessment and Selection Recommendation

Requirements
