In-person NY - Advocacy Support Intern

Summer 2024

World Vision Internships provide a three-month opportunity for exceptional students and recent graduates ready to explore a career in the international relief and development sector. BEFORE APPLYING, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Able to commit to at least 24 hours per week for the entire internship period: 20 May – 16 August.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid US Social Security Number.
  • Be physically located in one of the following states where WVI is registered as an employer: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
  • Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within 2 years).
  • Adhere to World Vision International’s Christian Statement of Faith.
  • Willingness to use own electronic devices for internship purposes, and disposition to let WVI install endpoint security software on those devices.

DETAILS

  • Stipend: All US-based interns are paid a monthly stipend of $800
  • Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (24-40 hours/week)
  • Internship Location: Remote within the US (see eligible states above).

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Social Science, International Affairs, Journalism, Communications, or related fields.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

The Advocacy and External Engagement (A&EE) team leads World Vision's global advocacy to elevate children's rights in multilateral institutions and global policymaking. A&EE also leads World Vision's global campaign “Enough” to eliminate child hunger and malnutrition. We believe there is ENOUGH in this world for every child, no matter where they live, or the crises they face, to have the nourishing food they need to thrive and for families to be more resilient. God provided us with an abundant planet that has ENOUGH to feed every child well.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to WV advocacy at the UN and for the global External Engagement team to advance the A&EE team's priority agendas and its work with Civil Society partnerships (platforms, coalitions, etc.).
  • Disseminating advocacy messages and news through social media (Twitter and YouTube).
  • Support actions agreed upon at meetings with Civil Society partners regarding advocacy work via webinars, social media, mapping, a compilation of documents, and others.
  • Capturing UN Member States policy positions on WV priority themes, particularly A&EE priority agendas.
  • Support internal coordination on external engagement key events and/or moments.
  • Support EE Network including the development of high-level briefings for intel sharing.
  • Learn about and support outcomes reporting and the development of Monitoring & Evaluation for global External Engagement.
