Result of Service The Advisory Committee will support the scientific path of the research, to ensure coherence with national policies and the SDG 12 on sustainable consumption and production.

Work Location Beirut

Expected duration The duration of the proposed Advisory Committee is initially set as two months; from 1 November 2021 till 31 December 2021.

Duties and Responsibilities The main functions of the Advisory Committee will be to provide advice on the scientific dimensions of the study and make sure it meets the specific needs of the kingdom. Moreover, the committee will participate in three virtual meetings in year 2021; one to discuss the first draft once submitted, a second to approve the final version, and a third meeting to disseminate the outcomes of the study to interested national and international stakeholders in a formal workshop in December 2021. Among others, the committee will: - Provide guidance on identifying risks at national level, address potential challenges and provide cases and examples; - Review and provide advisory input to the study; - Provide strategic and scientific guidance for an effective implementation; - Provide technical guidelines to prepare the basic structure of a roadmap that can be completed and implemented by Morocco at a later stage; - Provide strategic guidance how to make full use of the outcomes of the study and how to build on it for future studies.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Degree in economics, social science, environment, or related field is required. Experience: Members are required to have 10 years of working experience in agriculture, food security, food production and trade, food waste and loss. Members must be or have been high-level experts, who may formerly or presently hold public office, or have contributed to implementing food loss analysis and mitigation plans and projects, both in the region and outside. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English are required, working knowledge of French and Arabic are desirable.
