**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Natural Sciences Sector (SC) Duty Station: Trieste Job Family: Programme Coordination Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 12-Nov-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- ***Activities and outputs:*** ----------------------------- Under the overall supervision of the UNESCO-TWAS Executive Director, the consultant will provide advisory services to the Executive Director in partnership-building and fundraising with Italian counterparts, including the Italian Government, the Trieste Municipality and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. In particular, the consultant will: - Analyse the existing partnerships between UNESCO-TWAS and the Italian Government/Italian authorities with a view of identifying additional funding sources as well as options for in-kind support and submit a report with the recommendation for the Executive Director’s consideration . In particular, provide expertise and advice on customized fundraising approaches with: - Italian national and local government; - science-related international and national organizations in Italy and in Europe; - international scientific organizations based in Trieste and in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. - Liaise with diplomatic, governmental and scientific institutions in Italy to identify speakers and experts for participation in UNESCO-TWAS high-level events as well as in the TWAS Science Diplomacy and Science in Exile programmes, in particular for ministerial-level participants in UNESCO-TWAS events, such as the General Conference. - Provide assistance and advice to the Executive Director in fundraising efforts both in the North and South. ***Timing:*** 22 January – 21 December 2022 (11 months). **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** =============== PhD or equivalent in a scientific subject and/or in political sciences related areas. ***Work Experience*** ===================== At least fifteen (15) years of professional experience in scientific and diplomatic environments, including fundraising.
