Job description

The project “Financial Inclusion for a New Economic Start and Integration, Iraq” has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation through special initiative “Tackling the Root Causes of Displacement, Reintegrating Refugees/Partnership for Prospect. The project aims to sustainably improve financial inclusion and access to inclusive financial services for vulnerable target groups such as internally displaced people, returnees, and refugees, especially women and youth and those running micro and small businesses. The project focuses on three areas: (1) Improved provision of needs-based financial services for the target groups. (2) Awareness-raising, information, and training on financial services. (3) Further development of the regulatory framework for inclusive financial services.

Your tasks

  • Planning, designing, and implementing measures on needs-based financial services and awareness-raising, information, and training on financial services for the target groups
  • Promoting dialogue between financial service providers, clients, and government representatives
  • Coordinating advisory services for financial service providers
  • Technical steering of a team of three staff members
  • Supporting the officer responsible for the commission in planning and reporting processes

Your profile

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, finance, banking, International Development, etc.)
  • Several years of relevant professional experience, preferably gained abroad, in the financial sector
  • Experience in the Middle East and North African region or fragile context is an advantage
  • Experience in building networks among different partners/organizations
  • Strong management and organizational skills with attention to details and deadlines regarding effective implementation, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the project, as well as reporting of project activities in a context and conflict-sensitive manner
  • Diplomatic approaches and cultural sensibility are a prerequisite
  • Business fluent in German and English; Arabic skills are an advantage

The security situation is critically tense. It requires continuous monitoring and special security risk mitigation measures for GIZ staff. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. The freedom of movement is severely restricted. It is not possible for life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.

At the site of operation the particulate pollution occurs to be many time higher than the European acceptable limit. As part of the selection process and during the recruitment examination you will be informed of appropriate protective and behavioral measures.

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
