Background

Under the immediate supervision of the National Security Officer (NSO), the Security Administrative Intern is required to provide administrative support for the progression of tasks required to support the Security Office in the efficient and effective achievement of its duties and responsibilities. The intern will provide support for all aspects of the day-to-day operations pertaining to the section’s data bases, assets, and activities while ensuring compliance with all United Nations security policies, procedures and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs clerical duties, take memos, maintain files, and organize documents; photocopy, fax, etc. as needed
  2. Supports security maintenance requests for Security Physical Measures in UNDP and Mezeeh common premises.
  3. Collaborates as required to the improvement of filing and archiving systems.
  4. Cross-checks inventories, data files, warden lists and tracking systems.
  5. Manages databases and input information, data, and records
  6. Provides full support to unit’s tasks and follows up with team members to meet deadlines.
  7. Follows up with guards leaves, overtimes, switches and reflect the data on monthly tracking sheets and creates related quarterly reports.
  8. Updates and proofreads data forms related to staff, trainings and more.
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Applicant should meet one of the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher).
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Experience:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new tasks and ideas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter, is desirable.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views, is desirable.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Arabic & English
