Major Duties and Responsibilities

The World Economic Studies Division seeks an administrative coordinator/sr. administrative coordinator to manage the preparation of the World Economic Outlook (WEO) documents (board, press, and published versions), as well as WEO materials for the Interim Committee and Annual Meetings. As administrative coordinator/sr. administrative coordinator, the selected candidate will be responsible for directly supporting the Division Chief in managing all the division’s administrative processes in coordination with the second assistant.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the qualifications set forth in the job standards, the selected candidate must possess:

  • excellent secretarial, administrative, and technical skills, including attention to detail, as proven by past performance;
  • excellent command of written and oral English, including proven ability to proofread and edit documents (ensuring correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and formatting in accordance with Fund style) and to communicate openly and effectively;
  • proficiency in Fund systems such as eReview, Nexus, and TRACES;
  • experience working with compound documents containing multiple charts and tables in Word and Excel, such as staff reports of flagship or regional reports;
  • thorough knowledge of Fund organization, practices, and procedures;
  • strong organizational skills, aptitude for working with minimum supervision, as well as multitasking and initiative taking;
  • the ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines; and
  • the ability to work effectively with staff of all levels and collaborate as part of the RES team of assistants.

Minimum qualifications

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, is required. External candidates must have had at least two (2) of the six required years of experience in a lead role.

This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fund’s new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.

A regular staff member who is selected to fill the vacancy will maintain their open-ended status. If the selected candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment. Staff members already on a term appointment will continue their current term but may receive an extension provided that their current term appointment has not already been extended.

Only candidates who are currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered.

Candidates need to have passed the IMF Staff Assistant online exam to be considered for this position.
