The position is placed in the Accounting and Invoice Certification Unit of the Financial Management Centre in UNICEF Supply Division. The incumbent will be responsible for timely certification of invoices, contributing to effective financial management, protecting the interests of UNICEF through effective and efficient use of systems, procedures, and processes.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Accounting Specialist, perform the following functions within the scope of Supply Division:

  1. Process invoices and other transactions in accordance with UNICEF’s Financial Rules and Regulations, and third-party requirements.
  2. Process, review and analyze SAP transactions, payments and account balances for area of responsibility, identify and initiate required adjustments. Perform financial accounting and analysis for the Unit using a MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  3. Attend to queries by suppliers and other business units and follow up on outstanding issues by communicating in email and phone.
  4. Prepare financial reports/schedules for internal management, external partners and other third parties (in MS Excel, MS Word, SAP). Prepare exception reports and / or periodic reports statements, summaries analyses. Prepare documentation and work papers to areas of responsibility.
  5. Monitor and ensure systems and reports comply with UNICEF’s Financial Rules and Regulations, and third-party requirements.
  6. Identify and recommend system and process improvements identified during performance of duties and responsibilities.
  7. Perform other ad hoc tasks in related areas as required and provide back up support to colleagues within the unit.

    Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary education
  • A minimum of 5 years of general and successful accounting experience
  • Good knowledge of computerized accounting application systems and MS Office package, particularly Excel
  • Fluency in English

Desirables:

  • University level courses in accounting (and/or Accounting Qualification), Business Administration, Public Administration, Service Management, Business Communication, or other related disciplines
  • Experience in using SAP financial modules
  • Knowledge of another UN language (Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese or Arabic) or Danish.

Eligibility

UNICEF staff members globally and applicants who are EU nationals or in possession of a valid work permit for Denmark are eligible to apply.
