Purpose

The associate will work within the Accountability to Affected People (AAP) unit, whose role, based on the ICRC’s AAP framework is to help the ICRC adopt people centric approaches within its programmes. These efforts enable ICRC to fulfil its commitment to being accountable to the people it serves on one hand, and to improve the relevance, timeliness and effectiveness of its actions in ways that are inclusive and impartial on the other hand. The associate supports this work by taking responsibility - under the guidance of the head of unit - for the maintenance of lean and up-to-date planning and monitoring systems, delivery of unit’s communication efforts and support in capacity-building initiatives.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, monitoring and implementation of projects and budgets, helping to coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables
  • Document project progress to ensure alignment to all project goals and allow evidence-based reporting. In the process, ensure maintenance and proper structure of online filing within Team Space
  • Help review and improve systems in relation to the Unit’s strategy rollout, workplans, deadlines and monitoring of key indicators
  • Support organisation of regular team meetings, and coordinate schedule of activities related to the project as well as scheduling, preparing and documenting Working Group and Steering Group meetings together with the Head of Unit and workstream leads.
  • Work with team members to analyse data and communicate results
  • Conduct administrative duties, such as setting up meetings, drafting invoices and drawing estimates
  • Support the delivery of the Unit’s communication strategy by manage activities to foster an active community of practice, based on the team’s strategy in that respect, including maintaining and updating online pages such as the Jive platform and the team’s intranet page; convening webinars and virtual events to exchange experiences.
  • Propose and write stories for Jive, the intranet and other relevant medium and based on corresponding terms of reference, support the organisation of the practitioner online conference.
  • Support in keeping the Unit’s wiki up-to-date
  • Support in delivery of training and other capacity building activities, provide feedback on new training materials
  • Performing other duties in an orderly and efficient manner

Certifications / Education required

  • University degree in social sciences background with project management experience.
  • Computer proficiency (MS office), familiarity with project management and productivity tools (e.g. Gantt charts, Kaban, online collaboration tools, e.g. Asana, MURAL) and graphics designs (Canva, photoshop etc)
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages such as French, Spanish or Arabic an asset.
