The Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, co-led by the United Nations Development Programme’s Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (UNDP ICPSD) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, mobilizes skilled digital volunteers to co-develop open-source tools that strengthen resilience, recovery, and inclusion in development and crisis contexts.

In collaboration with UNDP Ukraine, Tech4R is supporting the creation of a Digital Accessibility and Universal Design Assessment Tool for Youth Centers in Ukraine. Youth centers serve as crucial institutions for non-formal education, social inclusion, and civic engagement. The ongoing recovery and reconstruction process in Ukraine presents an opportunity to ensure that these spaces are rebuilt to be accessible and inclusive for all, including persons with disabilities.

The project aims to develop a digital self-assessment tool that enables youth centers to measure accessibility based on universal design principles, identify gaps, and generate reports for improvement. The tool will build on UNDP’s “Recommendations on Universal Design Principles for Youth Centers,” helping to standardize assessments and promote inclusive environments across the country. Accessibility & Content Volunteers will review, adapt, and digitize universal design recommendations into clear, inclusive, and localized digital content, ensuring usability, accuracy, and compliance with accessibility standards.

The Community Volunteer will be expected to:

• Review and adapt the “Recommendations on Universal Design Principles for Youth Centers” into clear and concise digital content. • Ensure that all written content is inclusive, accessible, and user-friendly. • Apply gender-sensitive and inclusive language throughout the tool interface.

• Collaborate with UX/UI and QA teams to maintain consistency between visual and textual content. • Support translation, proofreading, and localization into Ukrainian and English. • Validate content clarity and readability for youth center representatives and local authorities.
