The Communication and Advocacy unit of UNICEF Iraq seeks to recruit two (2) Communication Officers at the NO-B level to be based in Baghdad and Erbil on a Temporary Appointment.

The Communication Officer (Social Media), NO-B will be based in Baghdad and will be responsible for implementing the communication strategy, with a focus on social media community management, planning and coordination, reporting and analyzing. As well as producing various trend analysis reports on the online users in Iraq, as well as producing analytics reports on the social media platforms of the country office.

Key End Results of Communication Officer (Social Media) 1. Community management - Ensure that UNICEF Iraq social media channels are regularly updated and inform and engage key stakeholders, including children and youth on issues that affect them 2. Reporting and analysis of performance and trends - Perform regular analytics reports on the ongoing campaigns on UNICEF social media platforms and share social media trend analysis with specified programmes and partners. 3. Planning and coordination - Ensuring that the social media calendar is always up to date, aligning with the country and regional priorities and the UNICEF global calendar. As well as coordinating with key influencers. 4. Monitoring and evaluation - Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country online communication efforts

The Communication Officer (Partnerships), NO-B will be based in Erbil and will assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to get children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives in the country, and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand. This position, within the overall work of the Communication and Advocacy Unit, will be primarily focused on the communication component of various partnerships in which UNICEF is involved with other UN and international stakeholders.

Key End Results of the Communication Officer (Partnerships) 1. Communication strategy: The production of communication products and materials are timely executed and followed up to support country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns and priorities, and to support resource mobilization as set out in the work plan. 2. Media relations: Effective and timely professional assistance and support are provided in developing, drafting and maintaining contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets covering all media – print, TV, radio, web etc. – in the country, to communicate the story of UNICEF's cooperation to a wider audience. 3. Monitoring and evaluation: Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts. Results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis. 4. Celebrities, partners and special events: The Country Office’s contact list of individuals, groups, organizations and fora (including Government, UN, and bilateral counterparts), is maintained and further developed, whose support is essential to/can assist in achieving the advocacy and communication objectives and who support and are able to actively participate in special events and activities that further the country programme goals.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have… - University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field. - Two years practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media. - Experience managing the communication aspects of an international organization will be considered a strong asset. - Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of Kurdish is a strong asset.
