Overview

Provide security management and risk assessments for personnel and premises.

You have:

• A university degree in Security Risk Management, International Relations, or relevant technical field is required.
• At least two years of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis.
• Fluency in English and working knowledge of French is required for Buea; fluency in French and good English knowledge is required for Maroua.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Contract

UNICEF has been working in Cameroon since 1975 to allow women and children to fully realize their rights to development without restriction, as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides financial and technical support to Cameroon across seven areas to fully realize the rights of women and children. These areas include Health, HIV/AIDS, Water-sanitation-Hygiene, nutrition, education, child protection, and social inclusion. UNICEF focuses mainly on children and the most vulnerable and excluded families. How can you make a difference?

On the supervision of the Chief Field Office for supervision, the Security Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance to the supervisor to manage a range of activities on security planning, management and risk assessments to ensure the safety and security of personnel and their eligible family members and safeguarding of UNICEF premises, assets and resources at the duty station.

Minimum requirements:

• Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: in Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security, Counter Terrorism or another relevant technical field.
• Work Experience: At least a minimum of two years of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis is required. Demonstrated international security management experience and understanding of the United Nations Security Management System is highly desirable.
• Language Requirements: Fluency in English and working knowledge of French is required for Buea. Fluency in French and good knowledge of English is required for Maroua. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Desirables:

Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF.
