The Position:

Under the overall supervision of the UNFPA Ethiopia Country Office Humanitarian Emergency Coordinator, the Field SRH Programme Specialist will be part of the UNFPA Humanitarian Response Team under the overall direction of the UNFPA Ethiopia Country Office Representative and programmatic guidance of the CO Deputy Representative. The Field SRH Programme Specialist will be the Focal Point for coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting on SRH activities, including HIV and medical aspects of GBV, in the mentioned locations.

The Programme Specialist will work closely with the focal points in the State Ministries of Health and County Health Department, implementing partners as well as sister UN agencies (OCHA, UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, WFP and WHO) to ensure improved RH services including HIV and GBV to vulnerable groups among the conflict affected populations. The Specialist is expected to interact positively with government officials, UN agencies and other organizations.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree preferably in Midwifery, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, or relevant Social Sciences or other related fields.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • At least 5 years of experience of relevant experience in SRH program development and management, preferably in an emergency context, particularly implementing the MISP.
  • Field experience in complex emergencies, including humanitarian emergency response.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience within a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Ability to develop and coordinate SRH programs that target refugees, IDPs/returnees and their host communities.
  • Coaching and mentoring experiences and skills

Languages:

  • Fluency in English required.
  • Knowledge in other UN languages an asset.
