You have:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience of increasingly responsible professional experience in relevant humanitarian programming and coordination experience at an international level, preferably related to SRH, GBV and/or emergency response, including field experience
  • Strong analytical, coordination and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and management experience within a multinational team environment
  • Skills in building strategic alliances and partnerships, strong communications and inter-personal skills
  • Fluency in English required; Knowledge in other UN languages an asset

Contract

This is a P-5 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 10 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 159,430 USD and 199,801 USD.

Salary for a P-5 contract in Addis Ababa

The international rate of 110,869 USD, with an additional 43.8% (post adjustment) at this the location, applies. Please note that depending on the location, a higher post adjustment might still result in a lower purchasing power.

The Position:

Under the overall supervision of the UNFPA CO Representative, and the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative, the incumbent will assist the Country Office in the planning, coordination and implementation of humanitarian interventions, including rapid assessments, programme development and implementation in Northern Ethiopia. The Head of Office will support the expanded Senior Management Team of UNFPA Ethiopia country office by providing advice on the overall coordination of effective and efficient implementation of UNFPA´s emergency responses and reprogramming of existing programmes at national level. The incumbent will oversee the regional teams in Tigray, Amhara, and Afar in the in the response to the crisis.

The position will support the CO to position itself according to its mandate and mission, and build relationships with regional authorities, humanitarian agencies, civil society and local counterparts and donors as needed to provide humanitarian assistance to the crisis affected communities in a manner consistent with the methodology outlined in the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Cluster system and Humanitarian Programme Cycle.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree preferably in public health, gender studies, humanitarian affairs, human rights, law, economics, statistics, sociology, social work, development studies, public administration, international relations or other related social science disciplines

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience of increasingly responsible professional experience in relevant humanitarian programming and coordination experience as an international level, preferably related to SRH, GBV and/or emergency response, including field experience.
  • Other relevant training in humanitarian response and emergency team leadership are a plus.
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian reform process and roles/responsibilities of humanitarian actors.
  • Strong analytical, coordination and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and management experience within a multinational team environment.
  • Skills in building strategic alliance and partnerships, strong communications and inter-personal skills.
