Youth Programs Intern (Summer)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Attend Volunteer/Intern Orientation

•Contribute to the planning and coordination of various different activities, such as after-school tutoring, college prep workshops, and monthly outings or field trips around town

•Administrative support (phone calls, filing, collected signed paperwork, etc.)

•Provide transportation for clients and their families to appointments

•Assist with preschool and school enrollments. Duties include completing school enrollment paperwork, collecting documents, obtaining parental signatures, and delivering forms to schools

•Assist with the youth mentoring program (MYVA)

•Be sensitive to the cultural and personality differences of the refugee clients. Respect their beliefs and values, which may differ from yours.

•Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard.

Qualifications •Strong interpersonal skills and interest in working with the refugee community

•Occasional evening or weekend availability

•Ownership of a car and a valid driver’s license and car insurance

•Willingness to be flexible and accommodating to client needs

This position is unpaid and reports to the Youth Program Supervisor.
