Job Overview/Summary:

The purpose of the Refugee School Impact Program (RSIP) is to promote the academic performance and successful integration of refugee youth and other eligible youth, particularly those who have recently arrived to New York State, into the education system. RSIP empowers families to be effective partners in the education of their children and is intended to support local school districts throughout New York State that are most heavily impacted by high numbers of eligible youth. IRC New York will collaborate with sister resettlement agencies, the NYC Department of Education, and sub-contracted CBOs to meet the grant deliverables.

The Youth Partnership and Academy Coordinator supports overall program delivery and compliance in coordination with internal IRC program leaders and sub-contracted agencies in New York City. They liaise with sub-contractors and IRC staff to ensure compliance with the RSIP grant, coordinate technical assistance, and facilitate communication.

The Youth Partnership and Academy Coordinator also closely collaborates with IRC colleagues and partner agencies to plan two-week summer academies and 2-3 day mini-academies that occur during school breaks during the school year, serving as the lead staff on site and providing leadership and guidance to program staff.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Develop and execute a regular monitoring and evaluation plan to ensure program records are compliant and meet grant targets, including regular file review and program observation - Facilitate regular meetings to review grant targets and progress - Identify areas of need and coordinate technical assistance and training to be provided by IRC staff to sub-contractor(s) - Review all submissions on the New York State Bureau of Refugee and Immigration Affairs (BRIA) Information Network (BIN) to ensure accuracy and compliance with the grant contract - Coordinate with fellow resettlement agencies to share opportunities for newly-arrived youth to participate in RSIP programming at IRC or subcontractors

Sub-Contractor Coordination

- Facilitate all communication between IRC and subcontractors, including technical assistance and training to be provided by IRC staff to the sub-contractor - Conduct site visits and compliance checks for sub-contractors - In collaboration with other IRC staff, review proposals from new sub-contractors - Provide onboarding orientation and training to new sub-contractors

Academy Leadership

- Serve as the lead staff member on-site for 2-week summer academies and mini-academies held during school breaks during the school year - Oversee logistics for meals, field trips, and liaise with building staff - Supervise program teachers[ER3] [PC4] [PC5] , staff, and volunteers, and support day-to-day program management - Facilitate student arrival and dismissal, following policies and procedures - Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in the field of education.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in partnership management, monitoring and evaluation and/or program development - Familiarity with refugee and/or immigrant populations is highly desirable - Experience working with the New York City Public School system is strongly preferred - Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. - Fluent in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel - Fluency in English required; fluency in a second language is highly desired (Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, French)

Working Environment:

- Standard office environment - Expected to be at the program location Monday-Friday during mini-NYSA and NYSA - May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
